I'm with you on this one md01, if I had the money (which I don't) I'd go for the Stax 4040 system. One of the main reasons why I plan on buying the K501, other than it's relatively low price is because they supposedly share similar sonic charactaristics as electrostatic headphones (dry, airy, analytical, expansive soundstage, ect.).

Whatever I buy next, I doubt I'll listen to them first. I can't see that a 15 minute audition would tell me much. It takes days or weeks for me to figure out if I really like something.
