The New Enleum AMP-23R Amplifier (Successor to Bakoon AMP-13R) Thread

It’ll likely still be a 23R for me given the efficiency of my speakers. Looking forward to the imminent Twittering MachInes review.

Quite hard to judge the size of the 54R but it certainly doesn’t look anywhere near as sexy/compellimg.

AMP-54R is 20K USD... and 25K GBP/EUR, that's a HUGE difference between regions, like, WHAT?

Doesn't seem like it has a Headphone Out.

Yes, it's designed for speakers

Yes, so is the amp 23r. Its an integrated just like the 23r with a bigger psu, higher gain, more currrent availability. Shoulve had a gain limited HP out for the price, its all the same circuit anyway.

I should've said it was intended for speakers only.

Edit: The Enleum 54R is the successor of Bakoon 51R, which didn't have headphone output either.

AMP-54R is quite the statement piece for the Enleum brand, an exciting announcement. Exciting to hear about the MC phono and DAC modules, keeping my fingers crossed we see those become available standalone for Enlink to the AMP-23r.

$20k is a lot, but for the minimalist-minded individual playing in that price bracket with hard-to-drive speakers, it represents a lot of value. I use my 23R to drive Klipsch Forte IV, and seems the 23R will continue to make the most sense for horn/high-efficiency designs (dying to hear the 23R with La Scala or Khorns someday). I also have a proclivity for BBC heritage speakers (Harbeth, Spendor, Graham Chartwell, etc) which need more juice, so nice to know the AMP-54R will be there for me someday if my next upgrade leads to my living room rig goes back that direction.

A strange decision from some perspectIves. Can’t help thinking that a headphone only AMP-23R at a lower price allied to a speaker only version also at a lower price would have caused havoc.

This product designed only as a headphone or speaker amp would've been the same device, just without either headphone or speaker outputs. Its circuit would've remained the same.

It is a lot, but that price is relative to performance versus other even costlier products. And you're right in that AMP-23R is for high-sensitivity speakers. Now enthusiasts of the brand have a product that sounds the same (if not better) with difficult loads.

In slightly different contexts I recently had the opportunity to hear both the DAC and the speakers so even more interesting to read knowing a little about how both perform. In some senses it wasn’t really a thorough review. More of a “It really is as good as they say“ summary with a couple of small digs at a certain reviewer who found faults which, in my view, made them look somewhat silly.
