My iPod Nano third-gen pushes my ER-6i perfectly loud enough at 40-50% of the volume bar. Any higher and it's just too loud.

Note that I have some moderate hearing loss, so most ordinary folk would probably listen at 30-40% volumes with an IEM as efficient as the ER-6i.

I actually owned er6i's too =]
but IM716's are ALOT more power hungry

Anyways thank you all. I think 8gb D2 + 16gb SD card will suit my needs well.

Maybe true, if you're thinking of brushing against the corner frequency of the output caps (effectively filtering out the low bass on larger instantaneous current demands, like drum hits), but this would apply to all of the players we're talking about here. But then I have an F2 and not a D2, so I can't test to see if there's some other kind of distortion present. I don't know what 32 Ohm headphone you could stand to listen to that loud on a D2-- it would have to have pretty low sensitivity!

Anyone have any experience with ety's + zen??
I heard they have inferior sq but they're so cheeaap
