The most beautiful song.

Elbow - Newborn

The wail Guy Garvey emits at the end of the song ties me up in knots every time I listen to it. Close runner up would be "Powder Blue" by the same group.

This song has a very deep meaning to it, took me a while to get it. Very good song.

What's a "while"? Try my 30+ year stint of trying to "get" 'Piece of Mind' by Curved Air. See the Poetry thread for the lyrics. I think it is about someone in a mental asylum, but what's the boat got to do with it? Or for that matter, "Harold in Italy"? I guess I'll just go back to my dreams...

Sigur Ros - Staraflur (sp?) [Became my favourite Sigur Ros track after watching The Life Aquatic... amazing use of music in that last scene]
The Beatles - Strawberry Fields Forever, In My Life
Elliott Smith - Between The Bars, Miss Misery

Cliche'd choices:
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven

Regina Spektor's Samson is a good choice, it'd prolly be an honorary mention on my list.

A Love Supreme - John Coltrane (yes, the whole damn thing)
It Makes No Difference - The Band
Hold On - Tom Waits
