Have you ever heard Bill Frisell's version of this tune? It is really beautiful.

Not for any deep meaning but just for the purity of the harmonies - "In My Room" by the Beach Boys. And now that I think of it, "God Only Knows" by them as well.

I was going to say "God Only Knows" as well...

And John Cale's version of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah".

I have to agree half-way on this one...I think that Jeff Buckley owns that song now.

A few others...

George Michael - "Cowboys and Angels": One of my test tracks, it just fills up a room with sax and stand up bass.

Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Jerusalem": I have this one on 192K DVD-A, and it just blows me away every time I hear it.

Simon and Garfunkel - "The Only Living Boy in New York": The choral part in the middle just takes me away every time I hear it.

oh, just realized another song that makes me go, "wow".

Atreyu - The Remembrance Ballad

"Of my immortal soul of this eternal flame
Will you remember?
Will your heart sing with pain?
Who calls out my name?
And tell me what happens
When my eyes close for the last time
Does it all simply end in a blanket of darkness
And what of my soul, what of my soul?"

Wow.

I get goose bumps everytime I hear 'Sullivan' by Caroline Spine. I am sure it has something to do with the fact I have actually been to Waterloo, and my Brother was in the navy.

Craig David - Unbelievable

Probably not a popular choice here, but Craig has very smooth vocals and this piece is sung with great emotion.
