Eagerly awaiting a review of the 9980s. The other earbuds that this company makes arent that great, but this one looks brand new. If they follow the 8320 at all, it will be the best headphone money can buy, with the ergonomics and ease of use to boot!

They look like a pretty big upgrade (comfort wise) over the 8320 and 9927. Looks like I'll have to pick up a pair.

The 9980's interest me too. Let us know how they go if you give them a try. Has anyone else noticed the Pink and White 8320 type phones coming out soon have rubber coated cords? Does anyone think the wire inside may be different and/or better quality?

Just finished my own set of custom rubbers. I second all the above. These are great with about a buck of of silicone putty slapped to them. Although it improves them, it also makes their shortcomings more evident... still really good for (all told) ~$8 and change

dude, that was amazing!
I'll follow your tips...

Not sure if it has been posted yet and I have no impressions on the monoprices, but the 9927 got measured. Boy oh boy did they measure well. Better than some exotica like the Victor FX700. Hell, they do not just measure well at that price; they measure well at ANY price. Link here: http://rinchoi.blogspot.sg/2013/02/monoprice-9927.html

Rin's blog post convinced me to try the 9927, so I ordered them yesterday. Looking forward to his assessment of tips and modifications to tame the ringing 3 and 5hz.

Dito. Excited to see the mods and do them myself.

since i didnt have a need to make an extra set of molds with my 8320,, im posting this with the use of the monoprice 9396 earphones,,  the only difference would be the use of tape over the port hole and the use of a double flanged tip over a single flanged like i used for the 9396 ...   http://s185.beta.photobucket.com/user/jaejw1/story/10901#

i did this alone,, so i was only able to take a few pics..

I received the black 9927 today. I was seriously disappointed when using the stock tips. Weird plasticy resonance everywhere. They got immediately better with other tips. I finally settled on the Hifiman biflanges b/c it keeps the annoying housing from hurting my ears. Bass and midrange sound really, really nice. But the 5k resonance can be rather annoying with too much volume. If Rin can show how to easily tame the resonance points, these could be pretty special. Their potential already seems better than the over hyped and bloated Sony mh1c.

Yeah it's got a valley around 7k to 8k, so cymbals lose their shimmer and presence. I think if the 5k peak and resonance can be tamed, it will help with cymbal presence in some music.

theres a tip that i think rids of all the issues, stay tuned tonight at rin's blog.
