Monday music magic from the world of modern progressive music;

The Secret Machines  http://www.myspace.com/secretmachines   Once decsribed as a mix of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and My Bloody Valentine, this band have so far made three great albums. Their debut Now Here Is Nowhere is the place to start investigation. Those deep Bonham like drum sounds. Harmonious vocals and Krautrock rhythms all thrown into the mix. Investigate now!

The Reciever. http://www.myspace.com/thereceiver   Little seems to be known of this band but they are amazing. Atmospheric, experimental and emotional music for all modern prog lovers to enjoy.

Polish Riverside aren't half bad, I like the production on their latest release Anno Domini High Definition.

As the authors of a 3-album opus to kick off their prog career, Riverside deserve more than a mere line's mention

Riverside - The Reality Dream Trilogy
Out of Myself (2004)
Second Life Syndrome (2005)
Rapid Eye Movement (2007)

only after that they followed it up with Anno Domini High Definition

first Amplifier, now Receiver? LOL :D

Amplifier is brilliant, tho!

I agree, posts written on my iPhone tend to be short like that. I'll have to give the first albums another listen, the one thing that stops me from diving in head first is the singer's voice.

I love the Flaming Lips. The Yoshimi... album is one of the best concept albums ever. True prog. I love this whole vibe/family that includes Mercury Rev that I think have been mentioned on here already, but also The Silent League, who haven't. Here they are with free mp3's;

http://www.silentleague.com/tsl_music    One of the guys in this band used to be in Mercury Rev. Nuff said.

For a similar vibe try North Atlantic Oscillation  http://www.myspace.com/naoband

Hybris by Änglagård

That's a superbly recorded and played album, reminds me of early 70's genesis sound.
