Below is circuit that you can work immediately.

Just removed 74HC04 chip and wire the SPDIF signals directly to the CS8414.

You can remove the toslink receiver if you are not using the optical connections.

What is the benefit over the stock S/PDIF in?

have been following this thread leading up to the arrival of my Zhaolu D2.0! I got the AD1852 with aussie mods ( http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showp...9&postcount=18 )

anywho, i remember Ori posted pics of caps to remove/bypass and I am wanting to perform this however scrolling back on the pages of this thread the pics seem to be taken down =(

has anyone still got the pics? Ori could you re-post?

At the moment I'm using the DY2000 opamp in centre position with the AD2604 in the sides, also have some AD823s on hand so will try them soon as well as the LT1057 that doesn't seem that popular, but will try them all before making any judgements =)

cheers for any help!

Here's your AD 1852 dac and I beleive the 4 red caps running from top to bottom on the left are the ones to bypass (in the lower photo).

Talk about excellent customer service,I've just had Eddie Wu on the 'phone explaining the public holiday yesterday in China and the 30 day delay for the TCXO but that he will return there and ship immediately these are available.

He did mention in passing he needs 40 hours in a day - must be busy, busy.

I just inserted that combo in my 2.0. I have it in my 1.3. What do you think?
I had this LT combo, maybe I can replace the DY2000 with the LT1028.
I doubt if I will hear a difference. I would need a very quick A/B test, I guess.

EDIT - scratch my previous question - I have found what I'm after:

I'm not especially sensitive to changes in sound, but dumping the LT1057s Eddie calls an 'upgrade', replacing them with OPA2604s, and keeping the DY2000 in place has made a fantastic improvement in my CS4398 w/ Blackgate D2. Woah!

Question to all AD1854 users... which opamp combo do you like best?

Ori: are you going to make the discrete output stage availible to the masses?

so far i've had 3 x OPA2604 and 2 x OPA2604 and 1 x DY2000 combos and i prefer the latter

i've been running around a bit, and my bluejeans cables just arrived today, so i will try to do more critical listening, but yeh, the DY2000 in middle position is pretty good.

Hmmm. Interesting. Soundstage?

Makes it also even more interesting to see a datasheet for the DY2000. Maybe we can see parallels to other opamps we like?

I listened with speakers, soundstage didn't change a whole lot.
