What an amazing experience! I can't say much that hasn't already been said. It was awesome meeting so many people I look up to (Jude, Val, Ken, Jason, and more). To audio geeks like me, you guys are like celebrities. It was great meeting and talking to Mike from CEntrance, a company I hadn't heard of before but that makes some seriously good sounding products. Mike is an excellent fellow.
IMPRESSIONS: The amount of fantastic sound in that room was staggering. I put the Orpheus on for 10 seconds before being so overwhelmed by how REAL it sounded I had to take them off. I just couldn't fall down that rabbit hole! Now I wish I had spent more time with them. I was also very impressed with the Burson 160D. It grabbed a hold of my K701s and wouldn't let go! It sounded tight, powerful, but musical. It's at the top of my wishlist at the moment. I think. I stupidly forgot to audition the Bifrost/Lyr combo with my K701s to compare. The other standout was the Phonitor setup. Those crossfeed controls are amazing. I've never heard imaging like that from a headphone before. Definitely what I would want to use for monitoring.
The afterparty was...well, I guess you had to be there. Thank you SO MUCH Val for opening your house to all of us nerds. You're the man. Also, thank you for the Vamp. Or is it VAMP? It sounded great at the meet and I can't wait to have it in my hands. I think it has the potential to disrupt the market for iPhone audiophiles. But more on that in my upcoming review!
Anyway, thanks to everyone for giving me a great time, and the organizers for giving us ALL a great time. It was a huge success, and I can't wait for the next one. No really, when's the next one? I'm hooked! And I thought I was already hooked!
