The LA Meet @ The Village 4/22/12: Wow!

If you had your LF at your table Purrin then it was a brave move to have the intermediate gear there to be compared side by side. Who will be the brave party when the statement gear comes out? Will it be Jason in offering you to compare it to your rig...or you to possibly risk further wallet damage and the replacement of your beloved LF?

Just kidding but I would have loved to have been able to have a listen for myself. What other goodies were on your table?

What an amazing experience! I can't say much that hasn't already been said. It was awesome meeting so many people I look up to (Jude, Val, Ken, Jason, and more). To audio geeks like me, you guys are like celebrities. It was great meeting and talking to Mike from CEntrance, a company I hadn't heard of before but that makes some seriously good sounding products. Mike is an excellent fellow.

IMPRESSIONS: The amount of fantastic sound in that room was staggering. I put the Orpheus on for 10 seconds before being so overwhelmed by how REAL it sounded I had to take them off. I just couldn't fall down that rabbit hole! Now I wish I had spent more time with them. I was also very impressed with the Burson 160D. It grabbed a hold of my K701s and wouldn't let go! It sounded tight, powerful, but musical. It's at the top of my wishlist at the moment. I think. I stupidly forgot to audition the Bifrost/Lyr combo with my K701s to compare. The other standout was the Phonitor setup. Those crossfeed controls are amazing. I've never heard imaging like that from a headphone before. Definitely what I would want to use for monitoring.

The afterparty was...well, I guess you had to be there. Thank you SO MUCH Val for opening your house to all of us nerds. You're the man. Also, thank you for the Vamp. Or is it VAMP? It sounded great at the meet and I can't wait to have it in my hands. I think it has the potential to disrupt the market for iPhone audiophiles. But more on that in my upcoming review!

Anyway, thanks to everyone for giving me a great time, and the organizers for giving us ALL a great time. It was a huge success, and I can't wait for the next one. No really, when's the next one? I'm hooked! And I thought I was already hooked!

Sorry but i haven't read all of the thread but there was a lady dj playing can anyone remember what the name was?

The first female DJ, with bright blonde hair was Val's GF I believe. I don't remember her DJ name. The other girl was DJ Reid Speed, who I believe is Alex Rosson from Audez'e's GF. I could be misinformed, but I think that's right.

Just saw this thread.  I agree, very nice meet, thanks to the sponsors and Jude.

I loved hearing the LCD-3 for the first time, what a great pair of phones!  I have generally not been impressed with orthos but i had to eat crow at this meet.

Also got to meet Ken(ALO) again and hear his Solo and the Fostex that Jude had and figure out what would suite my needs.  Both sounded great by the way.

My favorite rig though was right inside to the right next to the Super 7 of Craigs design.   It was the elecrostat set up with I think a homebrew amp and maybe Stax 007??? not sure but it was great.

I also got a chance to hear a Luxman P-200 that was very nice sounding.  The owner of that one won the raffle of the LCD-3.

Overall a good time, sadly i missed the afterparty but it looked like fun.

Thanks to all for the work and space!
