The JVC HA-S680 - S400's and S500's big brother is here!

Looks like this thread is still running. I just recently sold the JVC HA-S680 dirt cheap ($2) since the earpads and outer layer of the headband had decayed. I rarely use the headphones and had it in the closet most of the time. Just earlier this year when I was doing some spring cleaning, I accidentally stumbled on this JVC headphones inside a box and to my horror the eadpads and headband had decayed. I cleaned the headphones and put it up for sale at a giveaway price.

I was wondering if there's any decent headphones where the earpads and headband are more durable and won't deteriorate to a pathetic state within 1 to 2 years even when it's rarely used.

@ryder78:
I don't know the answer to your question, but it might help to cross post in this thread if you're looking for something reasonably priced:

Thanks for that. I have just briefly skimmed through the responses in the thread but will read through it in detail when I have more time. I still own a pair of headphones (Takstar Pro 82) and similarly it's rarely used as it stays in the box 99% of the time. The last time I checked, the ear pads are still holding up, fortunately. Perhaps I'll check on it again later.

My daily driver is Pro 82 from 2017 - 4 years later, the original pads are as good as new.
You just have to clean them properly once in a while - https://www.head-fi.org/threads/tak...ns-and-discussion-thread.849965/post-16243542

I’m gonna take my pair out of the burn-in drawer on Monday. It should have over 250 hours by then.

After I let them burn-in for 3 days, they became too bright for me. I definitely prefer the highs of the S400, they are more laidback yet still clear.
