Andrew Bird and The Mysterious Production of Eggs -- by Andrew Bird

There is a nice variety of instrumentation that appears throughout this album (my favorite of Bird's so far). It adds an interesting sonic texture that goes hand in hand with his lighthearted, yet witty lyrics. The guy also whistles.

Definitely my favorite Andrew Bird album...I also like his latest one, "Break It Yourself"

KCRW | 89.9FM

I would recommend that station for alternative/indie music. They play a lot of new stuff that just came out. It's a local radio station where I live here in Los Angeles.

Some of the artists I like:

Iron & Wine: Our Endless Numbered Days

Shearwater is very good

Foster the People

Young the Giant

does Imogen Heap count?

Miike Snow

There's so many good indie albums out there so I'm glad there is a thread for this genre

Any other Superchunk fans out there? They're so indie they started their own label! I'm glad to see a couple shout-outs to Pavement, Dinosaur Jr., etc.

In the same vein (as far as starting record labels go), I just picked up WHY?'s new EP, so far it sounds pretty sick if you're into that kind of thing haha

Yep, No Pocky for Kitty by Superchunk is one of my favorite indie rock albums. I saw them live in the early 90's

Indie rock from the 80's - 90's is one of my favorite music periods. Right up there with jazz from the 50's - 60's actually.

Someone mentioned The Chills earlier so I'll shout out another New Zealand band: The Verlaines. I always loved the album Bird Dog by them.

Over this weekend, a band from Leeds called "alt-J" whose album "An Awesome Wave" caught my attention. Rather ingenious and innovative songs...check these out! see if they are your cup of tea.
