Just in time for my questions also... Yes I was very interested in using the player in the same fashion as you have tried.. Please let me know what you find..

and what brand, etc of line out cable did you use to connect to aux port of car

and... how did you mount it in the car.. any bracket brand or model # would be helpful too..

and.. and..how did it sound when it worked??

Thanks and awaiting any other news on this issue.. especially since I have already ordered one ..lol

Well I figured out how to get it to work but it's completely annoying.
I currently drive a 2007 Honda CRV with a standard 3.5mm auxiliary port.
I use this cable http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-GC17103-Auxiliary-Audio-Cable-3/dp/B003CK70VC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1378799088&sr=8-3&keywords=auxillary+cable
and it's worked for pretty much every other mp3 player I own including the Cowon J3, S9, Clip+, etc.

Basically the unit must be plugged into the auxillary port before turning it on. If you plug in the auxiliary cable while the unit is on, it won't output any sound.
That's only the first part.

Once the unit is on, do not press anything(For me, I get 1-2 seconds of the song I last had playing before going to the media scanning screen) and wait for the media scanning screen to finish. If you press play or anything before the media scanning screen, it won't work and you have to start over again.

Aside from that, I'm proud to say that the DX50 does incredibly well in my car. Sounds are rich with great amounts of detail and depth.
I'm sure it varies from car to car depending on your speakers, but I was impressed by my car speakers especially since they were stock.

i have managed to re-tag or re-name some of my albums so they work or play as they should which is a releif

I went through all of the albums on my sd card and wrote down the ones which had anomalies then set about re-naming or re-tagging

I think I have "fully repaired" about 7 or 8 of them which is a huge improvement, the other albums I have managed to get the tracks to play - however they get added to the end of the album out of their advertised playing order

for example an album may have 14 tracks, track 6 could have been named "rockin' to the beat" (example)

I have re-named this to "dancing to the beat" (example)

before it would show in the directory list in the seemingly right order but not play in the album, now it shows in the directory and gets added to the playing album as track 14 (not 6 as it should have been)

much happier than I was but for me this NEEDS to be fixed as the albums which I cannot seem to repair play out of sync - they're mixed albums and need to play in the order they are advertised at

thanks for all help & suggestions

Anybody has a take on whether this is an upgrade to the Cowon J3? Given that both of them are in the similar price range, which product is better SQ wise?

I'll also try to write a short comparison once I get my DX50.

Sweet, did they mention what materials they will be using for the case?

Only 32gb and no microSD support? Did they at least get the output impedance right this time? I'm sure it's a nice DAP (With a proper Android implementation) but I don't see it as a direct competitor to the DX50

That thing is pretty cool.

What is not cool is, that the storage is not expandable.

I also don't need things like internet etc in my DAP. I have a phone for that.

Skipping it

(still looks pretty cool...)

Not a fan, not a fan unfortunately. Sony need to add expandable storage, you can't be making a player that holds 24bit files and limit them to 32 or 64gb,

Just not the way of an audiophile I'm afraid.

And so it was the DX50 thread continued surging forward strongly.....

That's one reason why I got this..

Potential 32 TB worth of space only if you are in a WiFi spot :p
Probably the biggest storage you can ever have "in" a player =D
