The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016

So I decided on purchasing the DX-50 over the DX-90. Ordered directly from Ibasso with delivery to the U.K although I'm expecting some customs issues and payment as I always seem to have problems:frowning2: Anyone know which carrier they use?

I figured that the DX-50 would do me as I will be using my Etymotic Er-4p on the go and these should be fine with the DX-50. Might get an amp later for home use for my Sennheiser HD600.
The longer battery life was also an important factor in my decision.

People have talked of some background hiss with the DX-50 and IEMS but as long as it is no more than my Sony NW-HD5 (still going) then I can live with that. Any opinions?

As far as scanning media files is concerned, does the DX-50 have to do an entire new scan even on loading up a few new files?

Any way looking forward to receiving and hope I have made the right decision! after all I have waited for the firmware to catch up.

I had mine delivered by DHL in France without any duty. For the moment I use QJays iem and no hiss issue.
Everytime you turn on the device it does a scan but it takes only some 20 or 30 sec and you can press the play button to listen to music even during the scan

any suggestions for a 100-150$ portable amp to pair with dx50?

If you don't have DX50 yet and planning to pair it with a sub $200 amp, may I suggest getting DX90 instead. DX90's amp is more powerful than most sub $200 amp out there. It's more powerful than C5 at 32 Ohms at least. At around the same price I think you will have a better value and a better portable experience than a DX50 + amp.

Frankly, even if you are thinking of getting a dap and then an amp, I would skip the amp and get the DX90 because you don't need an amp. To me, the amp section of the DX90 is as good as most portable amps on the market. If you want to experiment for fun with different amps, then the dX50 is great and I enjoy it without an amp as well. For a sub 200 dollar amp, maybe find something nice on the used section. iBasso has said they are coming out with the P5 amp but I don't know the cost.

How is the sound of your hd 558 only with the dx50? Im really choosing between dx50 and x3 which will better synergize with my hd558. Thanks in advance!

The 558 sounds terrific with the DX 50 as long as you put to high gain, I have not try the X3 so I have no idea but from what others said DX50 should be sonically better than the x3.
