The history of bowls and flats?

Did SR80-225 ever ship with flatts? The guy at the audiophile store said they ALWAYS shipped with bowls. Arguements ensued.

If you look at the pic of the SR-225 shown on Grado's own website, it shows flat pads on them...

I bought the SR-60 brand new in 1995 and it came with flat pads. I looks like the changed to comfies the year after.
