The Hardstyle thread

Uploaded another hardstyle compilation part to youtube of my personal favorites. "oldstyle" fans won't like this but others probably do http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2-QfUKAkiA :p

These songs all sound very tailor-made exactly the way I want it to sound like so they represent the style I like perfectly so if you like one of them you probably enjoy them all, the first track is just a tiny bit different than the rest but this track I just felt it can't be discluded since it's like among the first hardstyle songs from year 2007 to have a bit today's "scantraxx"-sound to it, hence the song title I suppose too. :p

I just discovered a new artist Wasted Pinguinz due to the nice fresh release http://www.scantraxx.com/scantraxx/releasez.php?moduleid=21&releasegroepid=2&releaseid=411

Looks like they've been around since 2010 but I think all the songs released are all great. Some examples:

Looks like they've got lots of fans already and comments like "future of hardstyle", "will be dominating the scene in 2 or so years" are common and hardly get any dislikes at all on any of the vids on youtube. :p

They are 2 very young guys from Sweden that is really enjoying what they're doing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sz2xmfWq6t8

What I like about their songs is the very varied, "uplifting" hardstyle kind of sound, great vocals mixed with great melodies as well as awesome bass kicks. There's so much depth into the songs despite hardstyle is mostly known for the strong bass kicks.

These 3 tracks are also awesome that hasn't been released yet. Scantraxx What stop delaying stuff, hurry up and release stuff!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kE3DyLoA91I Another live rip of awesome track :D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egFdP70w-PU Yet another awesome track

I really want these 3 above tracks in full length and great quality naaaoooww :s

Hardstyle... Gabber... Hardcore... You will grow out of this repetitive genre of dance music soon enough imo  I have nothing against it really. Although the Bass Loop drives me insane! I went through a crap load of dance genre stages, but in the end. Nothing beats good ole Trance and House music.

I don't think I'll "grow out of it" unless it all becomes very plain and boring. Once artists stop being innovative, then I'll "grow out of it". I do agree with the the Trance and House statement though. Trance is the most holy of all forms of electronic music.

This is where i find it in my opinion, that bass loop... We all have different tastes i know :p

Oh and yes I really wasnt into trance until i saw Armin, Ferry and Tiesto live... Although i was always swayed towards Armin over the others. They are all unbelievable artists in the end, once you hear it done "right!"

I still think you will grow out of it sometime around, alot of people come back to the roots of electronic music!

Perhaps I will grow out of it eventually, I just don't see it happening soon.

Oh and you will probably laugh :p But i do dig alot of Minimal/Techno, so i am kind of eating my own words about the repetitive bass loops ... Trentemoller, Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano, Loco Dice, Andre Galluzzi etc. If you ever get a chance have a listen to these djs.

Anyways i will take my posts elsewhere since we are off topic haha.

For me it's been like that I was a huge trance addict and been for many years and I even grew up listening to techno in the 90's before trance took over and now I almost find trance boring. xD Maybe it changes or it doesn't but I really enjoy hardstyle a lot these days but I agree on the bass loops, that's why I prefer only select hardstyle songs/artists that doesn't loop the bass all over again with a repetitive bass rythm played for 1 min. The newer the hardstyle, the less repetitive bass loopings and the more melodies/vocals etc which some like to refer with this "nu-style" while those refer their preferred hardstyle as "oldstyle" which can be like 1 - 2 mins or a bass loop, then some minimalistic tune or "noise" added to it for 1 min and then back to the bass looping again for 2 mins or whatever. There's a lot of hardstyle tracks I don't enjoy AT ALL, in fact find annoying to listen to, mainly because of the lack of melodies/variety.

Wasted Penguinz in particular as well as quite a few songs from artists like The Pitcher, Butterfly Effectz, Noisecontrollers, Arkaine, Max Enforcer etc. is more varied, more melodies and vocals and varied bass kicks etc which makes it so much interesting for me to listen to coming from an trance background, I even dislike/hate the old hardstyle (say 2004 ~ 2007), it wasn't until 2007-2008 or so when I thought it really got great and seems more and more newcomers have adapted to this change and lots of people have started to prefer it as well so yea it seems like a genre that only becomes more and more interesting the longer you wait (unless you belong to those oldstyle "club"-like hardstyle fans).

Usually a genre evolves into another sub- or totally different genre next to it when enough change in the structure has been made, hardstyle has changed a lot without really have got any specific subgenre (other than this "nu-style" which is too vaguely specified to be actually concidered as a subgenre so far). Trance for example allows such many different interpretations of it why there's all kinds of subgenres beneath it too.

Yeah I looked on Beatport and they have like 4 songs. What is that trash? I know they have a larger catalogue than that! C'mon Scantraxx... pull your head out of your arse!
