Taking a head-fi breather for the time being. I've been finishing up some transactions and responding to PMs, but overall I wont be posting much over the next week or so.
A few things to note. I'll be downsizing my collection rather extensively, and while I prefer local transactions, if there's a specific item any of you diary folks are interested in then shoot me a PM. Things that I wont be selling: FAD and Stax stuff, HeAudios, FitEars, K3003, Ocharaku Flat-4, TakeT H2+, Sony Qualia 010, Fostex TH900 and Paradox, YH-1000, and Grado HP1000.
I'm listening to the original Stax SR-Omega right now; it just further solidifies my preference for electrostats. It's similar in some respects to the SR-009, but there's a certain accentuated delicacy to its sound in comparison, perhaps due to the bass which isn't quite as robust, though it also has a more expansive spatial presentation compared to its successors, with just the slightest hint of that "semipanoramic vapor" that has come to be a stereotype of electrostatic sound. As befitting a Stax flagship, it's a truly stunning listen: effortless, transparent, relentless but well-behaved, fatigue-free. a window looking out onto one's music.
Pretty much made up my mind to dig my heels in and get a Sennheiser HE90. There are two Orpheus sets (HE90 and HEV90) available to me right now, but I'm planning to pair it with the HeadAmp Aristaeus rather than the HEV90, so it might take a while to come together. This is going to be my primary focus in the coming months.
Also got some goodies from FAD shipped in an enormous box, but unfortunately I can't talk much about them at this point despite a strong desire to do so.
