As some may know the I.Fuzen is on sale on eBay for $20. This thing is great especially at that price. My question is I can't figure out how to get the amp only without juicing the phone. They say just hold the amp button for 2 seconds but when I do that it starts the amp and the charge icon on the iPhone. If I hold the battery button it does nothing until I turn off the amp first. Any one have a clue? Thanks.

That's just the design of the amp.

Yessir, that's part of what they fixed in the new version, the HP-1 # (sharp).

From http://ifuzen.auzentech.com/product.php#features:

HP-1 # (sharp)
Unlimited Headphone Amp Usage While Charging
With the i.Fuzen HP-1 #, you can use the headphone amp while the HP-1 charges. When working at your computer (for example), this enables you to enjoy continuous, unlimited music listening through your iPhone.
Longer Headphone Amp Usage
While the headphone amp is active, the i.Fuzen HP-1 # does not charge the iPhone. While commuting, you will enjoy longer headphone amp usage.
Auto-Off Extends Battery Reserves
To extend battery reserve power, the i.Fuzen HP-1 # switches off after it has fully charged the iPhone. Whenever the iPhone battery seems low, simply switch the i.Fuzen HP-1 on again to begin charging.

HP-1 (original)
No Headphone Amp Usage While Charging
With the original i.Fuzen HP-1, you cannot use the headphone amp while the HP-1 charges.
Headphone Amp Usage Does Not Disable Charging
While the headphone amp is active, the original i.Fuzen HP-1 continues to charge the iPhone.
No Auto-Off
The original i.Fuzen HP-1 stays on after it has fully charged the iPhone.

Mine arrived today and just finished its initial charging session, so I can't yet confirm whether I'm one of the "customers who feel those newer features are nice but not necessary", but I figured it'd be worth a shot at that price.

Darn didn't realize there was a newer version with features I'd actually want. The claim of 40+ hours is crap then. Even attached to a fully charged phone it'd last like 8. How much was the new version if you don't mind me asking?

$88 on amazon.  I think the reason I got mine (and probably others) was the $20 price point. For $88 there are much better options

Low cost ($16) Velour ear pads for AKG 240 (270?) series and Superlux HD668B, HD681 and Samson SR850 headphones.

The quality of the Velour may not be as good as name brand Beyerdynamic & AKG Velour ear pads.
But they are half the price of name brand Velour ear pads.

I bought one of the K240 pads from this seller and they are pretty comfortable.  Pretty nice quality for something so cheap.
