The ones from cowboom are the standard v8 Tracks. I just got them in last night. A little too bass heavy but if that's what you're looking for they are very comfortable, isolate well and seem durable.

^ Just so you know the Sol Republic and Sol Republic HD are different Models, thus the much cheaper price. ^ EDIT, looks like "Dan of Steel" beat me to it.

Sennheiser HD 598's (Usually $300, now $242) The 558's are actually more expensive at the moment at $255 lol

I dont know why anyone would buy the 598 for that much. You can buy the 555 for a little over 100 and they share the same drivers. Ridiculous.

Headphones are usually significantly more expensive in Canada.

Canadians do not have it easy with this little hobby. Buying online from American sources is never any better either because the shipping ends up evening out the smaller price tag, not to mention the possibility of paying duties. 

You can easily expect to spend $100 more on any mid fi headphone in Canada.

There's a lot more to a headphone than just the drivers.

It's like saying, "why buy an Audi A4 when you get a VW Jetta for half the price?"

I realize that, but in this case between the HD555 and the HD598, its simply looks and a small piece of foam.

Are you sure you don't mean the 558? The 555 and 598 are pretty different - in construction and sound.

Not just headphones, but pretty much all audio equipment.

edit. They're only different in the size of the holes in the grills and the foam padding between the grill and the driver. I think the grill is placed in a slightly different angle on the 598, but thats about it construction wise.

The one you posted is the cheaper Sol Republic Tracks not the HD version.

I was at Guitar Center today and they had the Audio Technica ATH-M45 anniversary edition (white) for $45. Less than half of the regular black edition which they had priced at $99. Not sure how this compares to other deals, but it's cheaper than amazon by quite a bit ($99 for regular and anniversary). The MSRP is $150
