THE COMPOSER OPEN BACK FLAGSHIP by AUSTRIAN AUDIO

Just to double check: Is it based on the DC Expanse or Stealth? Your signature indicates you own a Stealth (closed) but from the picture you shared I assume you own an Expanse (open-back)?!

Not all of the models I have at home are in my signature 😎
(Only those that completely convince me make it into these😉)

Ps.based on the Stealth regarding illuminating and imaging the room

Sorry for asking in more detail but it is important (for me  ) to learn how the Composer is tuned about soundstage / wideness. I'm wondering if a closed back headphone (DCA Stealth) could be better here as this open construction from the Composer.

Stealth does not sound wide as in HifiMans, which are fully open and bright, which contributes to the wideness feeling. Stealth is rather "focused" and distinct sounding with good separation.

I think the soundstage / wideness of the Composer fits in the tonal performance very well 👍
What is the use of a very large stage or a very large room (which is not real and not on the recording) if the tonal performance is not correct to my ears or does not come into its own?😉
(Best example The HD800S...no low end/Bass,to lean,to much treble but its wide and huge the room, but in defense of the Sennheiser, I have to say that was many many years ago
Now we are in 2023)

PS.❗️Ultimately, everyone has to decide for themselves which parameters seem most important❗

That is a good statement. I know that my preferences are quite "unnormal". I will still test the Composer. Maybe it is a fit - also with a "smaller" soundstage I usually prefer. Is there any clear statement when it come available to be ordered in Germany?

I think for anyone who puts tonal performance first, the Composer as an open back headphone will be very interesting

That would be me. :sunglasses:

For me, how a headphone reproduces the tone, body and texture of music is the cake. Everything else is just icing.

Although I liked them a lot at CanJam, the low sensitivity is an issue for me, as I prefer to use a DAP most of the time.
Then you should definitely consider the Composer👍...which is the easiest to drive high-end headphones on earth
(That's why the 4.4 mm Pentaconn is included in the package 😉)

I'm at most 95 out of a possible 150 on the Volume Scale with the SP3000

Heavenly 😇

P. S. Production is running at full speed in Vienna, that enough will be available worldwide for release ,don't worry👍
(❗️Made in Austria❗️)

Wait ... aren't you supposed to announce pre-orders and then sit on everyone's money for half a year? Isn't that how the industry works now?

Yes, tonality/timbre are my top priority too 😉

What can you say are possibly trade-offs between Grell's low price collaboration vs. the Composer. What sins do each have; what might cause someone to have heavy opinions on them?

Cheers

P.S. Prost

Expanse little bit darker as the Composer
The Expanse also has more energy in the low end/more bass
Sounds like Expanse has the superior tuning (for my taste)

That's some good news :)

I haven't heard Axel's Over ear model yet, but I think for the price it's advertised, it will certainly have his qualities 👍
