Some of you who have read my posts in the past will laugh: I swore off this forum mid-pandemic, but fell immediately “off the wagon”.
I just gave in to temptation (and have some things up for sale on eBay) and bought a pre-loved ZMF Eikon as my closed back to use when I’m a ZMF (i.e. laid-back, more relaxed) mood, as opposed to a Focal (i.e. more forward mids, higher-resolution) mood.
This means I have one Focal and one ZMF in closed and open designs, to provide options- and I am so thankful for the help from many here to make that choice.
I know many would say the Atticus would be the more appropriate counter to a Focal headphone, and that is fair. But I love the Auteur’s biocellulose driver sound very much (Eikon uses the same driver), the Eikon is discontinued, and I found a bocote Eikon, soooooo
.
(I figure if the Eikon is too close to the Stellia, I can find a new home for the Eikon and get an Atticus- though camphor seems to be most common in-market at the moment)
Much excitement!
