To wire or not to wire...
..that is the question.

So far the ONLY way I can use these...

With the default silicons, the shrill highs & discernible sibilance drive me nuts not to mention I can't get them to stay put (particularly the right, control-bar side).
I tried Complys (T-100s) and the sound became way too thick, with extreme HF roll-off.
Just when I was about to give up, I thought about the fact that I have triple flanges from my Etymotics that would fit and now finally, they are much better, if not perfect.

I don't understand how these can be considered as "bass-oriented" right out of the box. You guys must have managed an amazing seal with the defualt silicon to come up with such a description... I am dumbfounded....

... All tested with comply t-isolation tips... Byerdynamic Byron-BTA ... Just opened an hour ago and what a major disappointment.  Very bassy but recessed in mids and highs ... sound veiled and cloudy with meh instrument separation.  Again bass is great but a set of beats tour got these beat in the upper regions...

Dump the Complys...

...Finally someone who recognizes the bass emphasis on these, I have the BT model and they are pretty bassy...

Tips used?

...Sound: These definitely have a warm sound. The bass is emphasised but not overwhelming, I think the bass sounds very good and is a highlight of these IEMs. The midrange and highs are also very nice, at first I felt they were a little withdrawn with the warmer sound, they're not bright...

Whaaaaat?

Tips used?

...Bass structure is much prominent and impactful in BT, X2 has a more flatter low end, i prefer the treble extension on BT, although it is a bit recessed on Mid, slight tilt towards V shape signature with forward sounding, while X2 is more balance in overall presentation.

Not sure how "impactful" you mean since you compare it to IEMs I've never heard... tips used?

...Once you get a correct seal (as always with in-ears), the sound it surpsingly balanced...
...have a nice low end punch, I fear they won't be your cup of tea in the treble department, knowing what you like (k3003 with high boost filter and beyer t1s)...

Tips & tip-size used?

... Replaced the stock tips with Comply T100 series which I had lying around.  They stick out a bit more, a bit like bolts sticking our of my ears but I prefer the isolation, sound and comfort they offer.

Exactly - Frankenstein´s monster's IEMs

I posted my thoughts earlier in this thread but I wanted to come back having bought some Comply foam tips. ... Improvements are...
- Improved sound quality, perhaps through a better fit and/or isolation.

...are you a so-called bass-head?

Stock, Medium and.. couldn't live with the monster IEMs, hence the stock tips.

Hehe, I don't blame you. But (for me) the stock tips won't seal properly. The Etymotic triple-flange tips solve both issues, although they are still not "made for" the BTs. The Etymotic have long stems and (as you know) the BTs are incredibly short, thus the signature is affected by the longer 3xflange "tubes"... .
Still, the best solution to date (for my taste & needs). I understand SpinFit will release a 2xflange version of their tips... might be worth a try

Can you trim the stems?

Well it seems my happy days with the Byron BT are over. When I plug it in to charge the red light comes on for a second and then goes off and it doesn't appear to be charging. More worryingly The unit becomes hot to the touch within a couple seconds. I can only think there is some kind of short circuit although there is no visible physical damage. Has this happened to anyone else? I guess I'll have to contact Beyerdynamic.

sorry to hear about that

Perhaps music comes out through these as,
"But a most living landscape, and the wave
Of woods and cornfields, and the abodes of me
Scatter’d at intervals, and wreathing smok
Arising from such rustic roofs; the hil
Was crown’d with a peculiar diadem
Of trees, in circular array..."

The beauty of musical sound will be, "like the night of cloudless climes and starry skies..."

Can you trim the stems?
So finally I got around to doing so; I wanted to give the original triple-flange some time but they were impossible. I trimmed off the largest of the three flanges in order to insure the same deep fit and...

->They look awesome this way
->They still "oscillate" (bounce) with movement.

Basically while they do sound very good when I am (relatively) still - i.e., sitting down @my workstation, they are impossible to use on the go with these tips as they bounce around (particularly the right, "controller" side). It's simply too much weight that once "set in motion"... you get the picture. To be honest, it wasn't all that much better with the original (OEM) silicon tips... .

It was my first and last attempt* with such a "around-the-neck" design.
*Having the contoller in the middle (back of neck) might solve the weight issue but then you have no headset (mic) and no easy access to the controls. Lose-lose.

Next topic; for whatever reason the headset quality is pretty poor - at least on my end. the other party's voice is metallic and is almost always accompanied by some form of echo.
I performed a very simple test - dialed my voice-mail service using two different BT headsets and the difference in quality was astounding... . Perhaps the Byron BT-A owners have it better with the DSP feature... in any event, it's not the biggest issue, rather the weight that is set in motion (momentum? Well, I'm sure there's a proper Physics term for it :p ).

One last remark regarding the magnets. Given the fact(s) that the cable is flat and short, the odds of the Byron BT knotting up is pretty low. Thus there is no real need for magnets* which only add additional weight... .
*And if you're into mechanical watches, magnets pretty much suck.

So my search for the ultimate portable in-ear BT stereo headset continues and for now I have to hope that my Phiaton PS210-BTNCs will last a little longer...

The Byron BT was on sale last weekend on amazon for $59 so I picked up a pair. They sound better than expected. I ended up cutting and keeping only the core part of a pair of stock tips so I can fit other tips on there with larger bores. The stock narrow bore tips really hamper the sound. Tips with wider bores reduce that bass and widens the sound nicely.

Hi! I have the wired version and I've had issues with calls since I bought it. People on the other end have complained about not hearing me several times, and today I think I figured out why. My iPhone doesn't use the headset mic, but the built in one. Has anyone with the wired version and an iPhone experienced the same?

I've tried with three iPhones and one iPad, same issue on all. With my Mac however, the headset mic works flawlessly, supposedly meaning it's not defective.

The Byron wired is actually made specifically for use with Android devices and it's mic and buttons aren't compatible with IOS.
