The Creative Z series and AE series both use the Soundcore 3D DSP chip.
The Creative AE series has a better headphone amplifier, for lower impedance (OHM) headphones.

If money is not an issue, then why not a USB sound card?

Just for gaming, $$ not an issue.

What should I buy?
If you're only using headphones, the best one is the cheapest one.
The only reason EVER, to get a soundcard is if you're using 5.1 or 7.1 speakers.

All the positional/directional audio is handled by the game-engine software alone - not the soundcard.

Even the motherboard on-board audio is absolutely fine. They've come a long way in the past 10-15 years.
Just make sure to use the rear-ports as they're electronically shielded, unlike the front ports which sometimes hum.
