I think best is a subjective term, but some of the tops include AKG's K1000, Audio Technica's ATH-L3000, W2000, and W5000, Grado's HP1/2/3, and PS-1, JVC's DX1000, Sennheiser's HE90, and HE60, Sony's MDR-R10 and Qualia 010, Stax's 4070, and Omega I/II, and Ultrasone's Pro Edition 7. The daddy of all headphones usually referred to is the Sennheiser HE90 Orpheus.

I've heard that the AKG K1000, properly amped, is the best it can get. Though others say the HE90 is the best (for it's price tag it should be!). It's whatever sounds good to you though.. To you, K81DJs through your iPod could be the best headphones in the world

It's all depend on your taste of music. My brother even does not like how my G08 sounds. He said it too detailed for him. He'd rather listen to his Sony home theater set, which only cost him $600 with muddy everything and big boom!

I've heard all except the Big O, and, in my opinion, the best headphone in the world is the Sony MDR-R10. Yes, I own the L3000....and sadly, the R10 is a better headphone over all.

The OII or the HE90 from the ES-1 amp...

This my 100% biased and subjective opinion based on what I've owned; on the basis of overall technical ability to reproduce detail, dynamics, imaging, resolution, soundstage height/width/depth:

1. Qualia
2. Omega II/ HE-90
3. K1000 (My favorite)
4. HE-60
5. L3000

I've not even seen an R10 in person so no comment on that

It's hard to pick the BEST headphone in the world,

but if I'm to choose a WORST headphone in the world,

it's.......BOSE........
