Here are some of my favorite female voice's owners with only a few examples of their talent and short comment from me (only about voices, their musical efforts is another big topic).

Amy Lee (from Evanescence) - I don't know exactly why, but for me she has the most beautiful and powerful voice among all the singers that I ever heard.

i gotta give more props to Corinne Bailey Rae.  Cause she's a gem.  Her albums, while sounding more "produced" of course, are also wonderful.

Milla Jovovich -- I saw her when she opened for the Crash Test Dummies and was blown away.  Not bad to look at either.

Charlie and Patty Webb -- backup singers for Leonard Cohen

Sharon Robinson -- Also backup singer and songwriter with Leonard Cohen.  If it's not obvious I'm a big Cohen fan.

Dana Owens -- a.k.a Queen Latifah  This whole disk is absolutely amazing.  Especially her version of Mercy, Mercy, Mercy.

Also in no particular order:

Tori Amos
Allison Krauss
Gillian Welch
Dianna Krall
K.D. Lang
Bjork
Patsy Kline
Jewel
Shirley Bassey

Probably been mentioned already but my ears go out to Sia - Live album.

she has not been mentioned to my konwlege, and even if she has, thanks for that b/c i'd never heard of her and so far im really REALLY liking what i hear!

She seems very diverse... i hear a few songs of hers, then i hear a few others and its hard to belive its the same voice.

Odetta comes to mind...

"Ramblin' Round" from the Tribute to Woody Guthrie Concert back in '68 is one of my favorites from her.

Marketa is an amazing artist! I absolutely love her and Glen Hansard as the Swell Season.

I saw her in the streets of Dublin in December 09 and couldn't believe myself at first but then chased her and asked for an autograph (on her CD which I had with me). She wore the same gypsy clothes as the one you see in the movie "Once"! Unfortunately she was late for a sound check for a gig that night so she asked for my name and promised to give my friend (ex?) and I two complimentary tickets to see the gig. I regretted not walking her to the Vicar St. (where the gig was), then I could've gotten some photos and autograph with the entire Swell Season band. But I was speechless and awestruck when I met her I couldn't say a word and let her go off.

We went to Vicar St. that night, hoping that she didn't forget my name or break her promise, but sure enough as gracious as she truly is we were on her guest list. Can you imagine how proud I was at that time? Haha. So I got in and saw Marketa and Glen perform live just a few feet away from me! That was truly an unforgettable night

She is probably my favourite female singer after Priscilla Ahn.
