This song is also known as Daglarym - a national song of Tuva ( northern neighbors of Mongolia but their language is Turkic)

Sung by a Tuvan singer Sainkho Namtchylak

Very interesting. I didn't know that. It's a beautiful melody and especially suited to ethereal female vocals.

I have loved Corinne Drewery's voice since I first heard her and Swing Out Sister back in the mid 80's.
Yes, it's pop music, but it is also Jazz and in a style that you don't hear that often. It's very upbeat music overall and makes me smile.
What more do you want from music?

Fans of opera should know Susanna Phillips, but this is a particularly lovely piece.

Meredith Monk a close tie.

These artists do not perform songs, as such, but more of a performance style compositions . Hard to find individual tracks that exemplify their range.

^^ Diamanda Galas in restrained mode. The Litanies of Satan might be a more appropriate pick for Halloween
