You dont just whack on a bass knob to make a set of cans to have good bass.

There are many facets to bass; extension, presence, clarity, not overwhelming the rest of the freq, etc.

If you want good bass cans, go for a recommendation from this thread and cross-check it against other reviews.

Hey guys, right now I'm using the JVC HAFX101 IEMs and looking to upgrade. I like their sound signature a lot and was wondering which IEMs would be a direct upgrade. I don't have a hard budget, but I would prefer the price to be around 100 USD because I will only be using these when I'm commuting or traveling.

V moda crossfade lp vs Rhythmz blu hd

Whichis better terms of bass and over all clarity with good highs

Haven't heard the Blu HD, but keep in mind that wireless headphones are never that good.

V-Moda LP's have tons of bass (especially midbass), but it's not very tight and you might want to look elsewhere if you want good clarity with highs.

I listen to alot of EDM, trance etc... how is the T5P? I currently have DT770 Pro 250 Ohm, but I want more. I've heard the T5P is like the DT770 and DT990 but better overall and with more bass - is this true?

I've also considered the TH600, HE-560 and Philips Fidelio X2.

Beyer T5p's are not basshead material.
Neither is the HE-560s.

Just so that you can eliminate those two from your options! :p
The TH600s are definitely bass bumped... haven't heard the X2s... but pretty sure more people will chime in soon.

so, MDR-Z7: basshead club worthy? not sure whether to pick one up, or save for LCD2/TH-900.

My opinion - basshead worthy.  Not extreme but that's whole different crowd.  These play well with Denon D2000-like audiophile bass.

I feed mine with vintage amps and with the loudness switch thrown, they thump pretty good.  Not JVC D1000 level but adequate for most non-extreme bassheads.

Can someone throw some high end bass names out there? Quality over quantity, but still want some quantity, and can amp as well as EQ to get more bass if necessary. Really looking for a very deep and rich bass as well as good mids and airy highs although the bass is the priority. Budget is $500 ±$50. Particularly interested in JVC HP-DX700, SRH1540, HE-400, and the X1/X2s. $250-$400 would be a sweet spot.

I'm really satisfied with my MDR-1A so far. I don't listen to them flat though, EQ V shaped sounds really clean with a punch and creamy sub bass rumble; nothing overwhelming but very very present and doesn't bleed into other parts of the spectrum. Would prefer highs to be a little more crisp though.

Sony isn't really what comes to mind when I think of high end, but will consider them. Although Amazon claims they are on-ear which is a deal breaker if that is true. Thanks for the recommendation.

Denon D600
Denon D7100 - you can find used $450
Denon D5000 - used price around $4-500
Denon D2000 - $250-300
Sony Z7 - heard they are now available around $500
Fostex TH600 - I see used prices around $500 now

I own or have owned all these and the bass is great and the mids are pretty good on all. Some better than others.

Not interested in used, refurbished maybe, but used is risky and certainly can't justify spending anything on something with uncertainty. I have heard of these though, wish the D2000s weren't discontinued, I heard they were amazing. I also heard the D600s are great as well, but a review on here mentions that the SRH1540s are like a baby of the D600s and HD650s which is one of the reasons why I am interested in them. As for the Z7 I am seeing $500 for a pair on eBay, will look into those but the Sony brand really doesn't appeal to me...are they worthy? As for the TH600s I wish they were cheaper, I'd scoop them up and wouldn't need to consider any other ones...might just save for them. Thanks for the recommendations.
