I no longer own my LCD-2 R1 or R2...just have the LCD-3s right now with a pair of LCD-X on the way. Looking forward to giving them (LCD-X) a try!

Dang ! I am jealous... :) I might get LCD-XC for the office use one day.

Just you. I had both leather a d vegan side by side, and they had the same exact bass. However, the vegan was slightly faster. Veeeery slightly.

Thanks for the feedback.

Kind of digging these on my WA2 lately over DACmini / Soloist.  Think I'm just becoming a tube convert slowly.  Bass isn't as authoritative but the mids just feel more musical and alive.

Early LCD-XC opinion, in case you don't catch it in the other thread:

(my comparison to the Fostex TH900s)

"They're in different categories, to be sure. The LCD-XCs are reference-class, flat FR `phones (think STAX SR-009s & HD800s), whereas the TH900s are "fun", more "entertainment-focused". One thing they both have in common is clarity and resolution that extends to the horizon. So far, in my tests, these are the most resolving closed cans I've ever heard, with the possible exception of the STAX 4070s, which are discontinued and nigh-impossible to find now, with the added benefit that the XCs don't require a $3k-5k stat amp. They aren't very picky about amping at all, you can get ~90% of their potential directly out of an iPhone.

So far, with only minor quibbles (like a bit too much weight), my early listening tells me that these are a game changer."

Due to the closed design, giving you actual isolation, they're a little better.

Isolation will affect perceived resolution due to open designs allowing in more ambient sound from your surroundings. I figured that was fairly common knowledge.

Barring that (and if you were listening to them all in a veritable vacuum), they're just as resolving as the SR-007 Mk1, and marginally better than the HE-6, based on my early listening impressions.

On the pictures on the Audeze site, the brown (LCD3) pads seem to be a bit thicker / higher than the black (LCD2) pads.

They aren't the same pads. They are just made with the same memory foam as the 3s now.
