The All-New WA7 Fireflies from Woo Audio

So finally I connected Lyr with stock tubes to WA7 acting as DAC driving HD700 with Silver Dragon cable and after warming up for 40 minutes I started listening to tracks I use for testing and after less than 10 minutes I already knew that they are not for me so I switched to National Electronics (Matsu****a) 6922 which sound more to my liking but not better than WA7 with EH tubes because high sound shrill on some recordings while it's not the case when I use WA7 alone or with Bifrost. So at this moment Bifrost/WA7 combo is my favorite but I have to try Lyr with Biffrost and NFB 11.32 (as DAC only) plus 2 more tube sets but it's already clear that Lyr, unlike WA7, can't be easily used with many headphones since you will need to spend a lot of time and money to find tubes which will be best match every time you want to change headphones.
Update: I'm using Bifrost now with Lyr and National 6922 tubes and it pairs a little bit better than with WA7's DAC but bass isn't as panchy and deep but a little bit boomy while highs are not shrill anymore but little bit less detailed.
Update 2: Just tried NFB 11.32 instead of Bifrost but heard no difference

The best tube I found with the Lyr and HD700/HD800 was the Amperex Orange Globes.  Didn't like the Matsu at all. Of the 6 or 7 sets of tubes I had with the Lyr and no combo matched the WA7 with Sovtek tubes for detail and finesse. Tried the EH in the WA7 but at the moment, not a big fan.  Will try again in a couple of weeks.
olegausany.. sound like you like more top end extension than I do.
At this point, I have no regrets selling off the Bifrost/Lyr for the WA7.

Hello..

Goodbye..

Hello..

Goodbye..

I warming up Amperex right now, will try them after they will have 30 minutes of warm up. I didn't say I like Matsu I said they are better than stock. Give EH tubes at least 30 hours of use before you make any opinion on them. I wasn't happy with them right from the box but after 30 hours I wasn't looking back so didn't try Sovtek again. At this moment it's very likely that I will keep WA7 since I'm really interested in trying T1

Thanks.. just got the WA7 on Friday so really haven't broken in either of the tubes.  Will give the Sovtek a week or two and then the EH for a couple of weeks before I decide. in the mean time, just enjoying the music.

Update.. can't resist.. rolled the EH's in and have been running for about 4 hours.  I really hope they transform.. at this point, I'm really not linking them.  Will keep them in for at least 30-50 hours before I decide.  Liked the Sovtek after only 4 hours or so.

I'm currently trying Schiit stack with Amperex Orange Globes ant this setup sounds very very close to Bifrost/WA7(EH tubes) combo so I will try tomorrow 6N1P tubes before I decide what will happen to Lyr
Update :Less than hour ago I installed Russian 6N1P tubes into my Lyr and they sound as good as as WA7 followed by Amperex Orange Globes
After several more hours and followed temporary switch to WA7 showed tat I still prefer Schiit stack over WA7 but I'm interested to hear Bootlehead Crack with Speedball before making final decision

Can't answer this question but can say that I currently prefer Lyr with my HD700 but only cause I have them both right now so can compare and got inexpensive tube sounding great for me but I decide to change headphones I will have to start trying different tubes again and who knows wWhat results will be while with WA7 you will just plug your headphones and enjoy the music

Could you give me the link or let me know where did you buy the Russian 6N1P tubes?

With EH tubes. I never tried stock again after installing EH

So the Lyr isn't very bad. I like the Lyr with my HD700 even with stock (GE) tubes.

Now I'm trying HD800 with WA7 before putting it for sale to cover purchase of HD800 i borrowed to try with my gear and as expected there are recordings which I would enjoy with both WA7 and Bifrost Uber / Crack combo and some would require Bifrost / Crack for full enjoyment since it gives me details I can't hear with WA7.
Update: Another much more simpler solution to improve sound quality is to use Bifrost Uber instead of WA7's DAC
