I think, therefore I think I am.

I think if I cut myself with a knife, it will hurt, and therefore it does hurt.

I think if I cut myself with a knife, it will not hurt, and therefore it doesn't hurt (assuming my intellectual processes over-rule my iinnate/conditioned pain processes), but it messes up the room with blood, and the reaction of my wife does hurt.

Reality equals existence, but this is different from one level or dimension to another.

Described/predicted/evaluated reality equals how we perceive existence. Not only is this diferrent from one level or dimension to another, it can differ from one person to another. When we agree, this is consensual knowledge, but we will later find out it was false.

Nothing exists.

If anything exists, it could not be known.

If it were known, it could not be communicated.

If it were communicated, it would not be understood by others.

You think you think, therefore you might think you are Descartes...

This post does not exist.
If it existed, it could not be read.
If it were read. it would be real and about normal peoples' tastes in music...
If it was real, it would not belong to this thread.

Actually didn't they use to believe that? The Divine Chords (Major Chords) and the divine progressions - something like a certain combo of notes was pleasing to God's ears, and thus we naturally gravitated towards them as well.

Discordant atonal free jazz is the devil's work! *religious overtones off!*

Here we go, I knew I read it somewhere!

"Pythagoreans described many fundamental aspects of musical harmony. For example, an octive can be expressed as a simple 2:1 ratio. It is no mistake that this ratio produces regularity among sounds. According to Pythagoreans, mathematics also hold true in astronomy. This is evident as it was believed that heavenly bodies were held together by mathematical regularities in ratios of 2:1 and 4:3. It was also agreed that a divine chord was responsible for the connection of the heavenly bodies to one another. The reason that humans do not hear this chord is because it has always been in existence, and therefore our ears do not notice its presence. "

All of existence reduces to mathematics (in a data flow encoded in pulsations at the basic level of the All). This is a mathematical language of energy configuration.

Sensation receives mathematical communications encoded in physical waves of light, sound, etc. This is a mathematical language of perceptual configuration.

Music is a mathematical language of emotional communication, analogous to the music of the universe that configures energy.

All of existence can be mathematically described.

Therefore: 2 + 2 = 5

Interesting thread.

So my take away is that Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys got it right......

"I'm picking up Good Vibrations
She's giving me excitations
Good, good, good vibrations....."
