I know, I'm just chuffed I bought some before they changed to the 250.
As my profile says, I'm a relatively new headphone enthusiast but being a musician and hifi nut, I kind of know what I'm hearing but I am amazed at the praise that all you experienced peeps heap on them.
I'd love to hear the new DN2000j but for the extra money would they even be an upgrade on the Altone.
Has anyone done a side-by-side with the IE800s?

Very different signatures.

The Altone is quite V shaped with emphasis on bass and upper mid-range.

The DN2000J is a lot flatter in the bass (better speed and definition, but less impact), and although less emphasis through mid-range, it appears just as clear and clean because there isn't as much bass.

Personally I'd take the DN2000J any day over the Altone (and I really like the Altone) - but it is quite different.

So it was pretty easy to take the core from another set of tips and put it into the westone tips.

I do get a better seal and I hear the bass difference but the overall sound is muffled. I think it's because the core is shorter than the foam material.

EDIT: I used the shorter tips. Success!!! sounds much better than the comply.

Got my Sony tips! What a treat! The isolation and fit of a foam with the comfort and ease of a silicone.
Great purchase. Chuffed.

I have recently put the Sony tips on them & they are singing...wonderfully detailed presentation with bass that you can not only hear but feel. A200 & Dunu DN1000 my favourites.....
