For similar sound sig, not really. Am getting the A73 this week to try, but from what I've read it's a bit of a different beast.

Yeah, I asked a mutual headfi friend to send me either A73 or E80. He sent me E80. From what I've read, I'm wondering if he thought A73 might be outside my preferences.

Hello again all you Altone 200 fans! While I'm not an Altone ower, I thought maybe you can give me any advice from my recent review on another earphone here:

Or if maybe I would like the Altones better.

Levi - the Altones are not going to give you laid back treble or lush mids.

Does anyone know where I could get replacement filters that would fit these phones? I just noticed that my left earphone is missing the filter (the metal grill). It still has the aluminum fuzz stuffed inside, but I'm afraid of the drivers getting damaged from wax getting in.

The problem is that there are no Altone200s left :frowning2:    (At present)

So it's not exactly a fair buying comparison. The 200s are great and have amazing detail. But you won't get that depth and fullness as you would from the DN2000Js...

The DUNUs are also a lot more expensive, at almost 2x the price from the original Altone200 intro price which will NEVER be seen again. They were just too good of a deal and not meant for the retail market.

A beautiful experiment.

I count my lucky stars I was able to get a pair of Altone 200s before they disappeared... temporarily? Hope that some day somebody does a re-branded re-release!

So,.. It's been a year or so.
I had the initial bass issue. Sent them back.
I had an issue with a broken cable. Sent them back.
On each occasion the issue was fixed and the headphones returned free of charge to me in the UK.
I am now rewarded with the best IEM's I've heard. These just keep getting better and better.
My ear canals are different sizes so I've found the blue foam tips to be best for me as the expand and seal nicely.
Is everyone else as happy as me after a year of listening and is there anything you'd trade them for? (customs don't count)
I want to hear the IE800's to compare.

crashtest33: A200 are one of my favorites. Have you tried them with the foam-filled Sony Hybrid tips? Great combo!

No! So they're rubber with foam inside?! Cool!
Bit grumpy at the moment as I sold my Fostex Hpp1 and got a Teac HA-P50 which I was not impressed with at all. Didn't sound any better than an iPod tbh.
I think a CLAS and RSA P-51 Mustang may be the way to go now.

crashtest33:

Yes, a kind of hybrid between silicone and foamie tips.

Maybe wait for Fiio X7. Starting to hear really good things about it!

Oh right! iDevice DAC on a Fiio finally?!

Not following you here, buddy. X7 is an Android based DAP that should allow offline (internal memory and/or micro SD cards) and online (Spotify, Tidal, etc.) listening. It's amp section is modular, reminiscent of HiFiMan DAPs. The VE team just got one and said it's the best sounding DAP they've heard!

With all the new IEMs in the house I had not listened to these lately.  Tonight they came out to play :)
Last time out the best tip I found was the JVC Spiral Dot.  Tonight that sounded flat and did not fit as well as I remembered.
Switched to the Avuio Large and wow.  This is the best these have ever sounded and fit.

I need to order the Sony Hybrid foams, but for now this is good.

iPod Classic > Centrance HiFi-M8 on low gain, 1 Ohm and no bass or treble boost.
Blues and Jazz
