T+A Solitaire P planar magnetostatic

Had them a few years now, using the HA200. Over time the midrange definitely improves and vocals sound lovely. Occasionally there is a little sibilance, depending on the recording, but the holographic soundstage and detail retrieval makes up for any negatives. Best headphones I’ve owned and I’ve worked my way through a few of them.
Amazing sounding headphones for sure.
Besting even Susvara sonically.

Unfortunately they can be uncomfortable and create a Hotspot in the middle of the head, if you have a small head

Yes. For me they are better than susvara but like you mentioned, headband is uncomfortable. I resolved this issue with extra padding and comfort is great;) now they have no flaws for me :)

For me, around the ears they are HD800 comfort. The headband has a tight(ish) curve which makes them a little uncomfortable on the head. I place a folded handkerchief under the headband which helps and I can then listen for a few hours before the weight becomes an issue!

Great headphone. They continue to grow on me. I still feel Susvara is superior, especially in the mids, timbre and overall clarity, however they do have a bit more bass then Susvara and are a little different. The Sol P is a detail monster. It is not that they have any more detail than the Susvara as you do not really hear anything that is not present on the Susvara as well, but the details are more highlighted. As always this is a double edged sword as some details should not be too obvious so as not to harm the musical flow of a track.

They mate well with the Bliss and MK-465.

I can't wait. Hopefully, tomorrow will arrive, and I will listen and provide my first impression. I have quite a big head, so probably I will not have problems. I guess vs. Susvara is a matter of taste, which is more important for you.

I would be interested in your comparison to the Meze Elite after you receive them and use them a bit.

I will. I am curious myself. What I didn't like about the Elite is not enough resolution (for my taste with hybrid pads) and that they aren't so comfortable for me. With hybrid pads, I can say that the frequency response is a bit incoherent. Something is missing somewhere in the low mid range. This doesn't appear on the graph, but I think it is canceling when music is playing. Possibly is a combination of the driver technology and my ears (?). You hear it when switching pads and listening to the same song.

I use almost all the time angled alcantara (AA) pads. They are very comfortable for me, have more resolution, and the problem with coherence is fixed. But the bass response is leaner in terms of quantity. Quality is more. You hear the frequency wave after wave, very controlled and satisfied.

Depending on what you listen to, Elite can me amazing or not so much. For example, Ajeet Kaur voces like rain is mesmerizing with elite and AA pads. Metal ex: New years day half black heart is a bit brighter and boring with AA pads.

Classical music is lovely with elite. I don't agree with some opinions that they don't have separation of instruments for busy music. With one exception, if music is very fast by nature. Like some metal songs, elite can't it keep spot on.

I continue to believe the sol pp is a 4k HP priced at 7k on a retail level..it competes well with the caldera and the elite etc but not the next tier but that was my impression when I owned them..the great thing about the hobby is it is all subjective

I just realized the Solitaire P sounds great while on its stand for background music. Clear sounding even from my desk while working and not wanting to have my HPs on.

@DarKu (Sandu) from soundnews, made an amazing review, and comparison with the Susvara

It's interesting his comment on how much power he thinks the T+A needs. Second only to his Susvara? I was surprised by that. I don't find the Sol P that hard to drive, and specs don't indicate it either. I'm certain it can scale and perform better with more capable upstream gear, but anyone else agree/disagree with his assessment?

It is certainly not the most sensitive HP. Maybe a 1/4 turn difference on my volume control as compared to Susvara. That is still way less sensitive than my Empyrean for instance. Maybe his other HP’s are also more sensitive.

It's definitely not the most sensitive headphone. But I'm not having to crank the volume unreasonably either. The Elite I have are definitely easier to drive, but the Sol P don't seem significantly more difficult in my setup.

The T+A headphones are still very easy to drive with 101db sensitivity.
Considering the high sensitivity I had to crank the volume more than expected for it to feel right.
However I didn't measure my listening volume in an objective manner, maybe the tonality made me simply listen at louder volume.

It's still far far off from Susvara or Expanse.
