Just to clarify... you're saying that you are currently unable to discern a difference in sound quality between the YBA and other cheaper Sony and Pioneer CD players?
No, the Sony and the Pioneer are SACD players playing SACDs. I have at least 4 albums that I have copies of the earlier Red Book CD and I later purchased SACD versions (hybrid). When I play a Red Book CD in the YBA and the SACD version in either Sony or the Pioneer and A/B, trying to keep the volumne level the same, I can NOT hear any perceptible difference. When I was using a Audio Refinement (on loan) I could hear some difference but not a great deal.
Now let the flaming begin.
The sound from the YBA (RBCD only of course) is more detailed and less fatiguing. I have not been able to get alot of listening time in yet and that has been 90% headphones. I am happy with the purchase so far, but the remote is extra and that sells for more than a hundred dollars.
Anyone interested in purchasing this or any other CD player, I would highly recommend an in home trial.
This player was reviewed recently in one of the major magazines in the last few months - it was given a general thumbs-up, but not without a few reservations. Good for the price. Pretty, though...
