Hi i'm hoping someone can offer some advice.

I'm new to this sort of thing so please be patient

To sum it up:

Dap - mini to rca - little dot mkv - hd650: no noise

Laptop - usb - dac amp - hd650: no noise

Laptop - usb - dac - mkv - hd650: huge amount of unbearable electronic scramble noise...

This is with two dacs ibasso d10 and aune.

Any ideas?

Probably grounding problem. Try to power your amp and or dac withouth earthing with cheater plug. If problem gone, you may focus on electric system in your house.

What happens if your laptop is just on battery?

Thanks for the response both, so you're saying the power going into the laptop from mains is causing this?

I haven't tried with just the battery and am at my parents for Christmas now, will give that a try when I get back.

My HDD is mains driven as well, do you think that will add to the effect?

Finally, will it make any difference if I use spdif instead of USB? I've found out my laptop does output it (but I need to order an optical mini adapter for the cable first).
