just wan to show you guys my mod on superlux hd668B, mod includes :
1. replacing earpad with earpad from hd662
2. replace headband with hd662 one
3. Y cable config mod with still detachable feature, but with XLR-4 pin connector like the one used with audeze lcd2, you can swap with audeze LCD2 cable if you wan to.
4. cable silver coated copper with neutrik 1/4" terminating plug, this probably the most expensive mod compare hd668B price considering it's for cable only.
5. a bit damping in housing using special acoustic material.

this one before headband mod, which is not as comfy as the new headband.

sound very different from original, bass way much go deeper, with high more bearable, and vocal more natural, i enjoy listen this more than ATH M50 due it's warm signature, and more comfy headband and earpad.

nice mods, im a bit of a treble head so i dont find the need to tone it down, and the bass for me is sufficent/tad bit too much sometimes.

I just bump up the mids with EQ a bit and they are good to go.

Regards

treble head... just sounds so... odd in this world of bass heads, should have more original people like you

I am going to mod the HD 662B as a test project - How did you clean the glue they used to attach the TRS cables to the board?

Anyone knows how to mod the headband? I really like the sound quality, however the headphones are totally unusable as the clamp force is too much which cause me headache when wearing the headphones!

The problem is I don't have any old headphones and I can't put the  old headband replace with my hd668b! I don't mind going to the dollar shop to get a cheap headphones though.

Any tutorial for replacing the headband? Thanks

they use hot glue to attach trs cable to the board, it actually not that hard, use my finger nail and a little bit patient to scrap the glue off. after that use solder (40 W shall do it..) to solder new wire (same wire i use for the cable),apply hot glue over new solder, reassembly, than you good to go.

Hi All!

2p mod which basically involves taking off the name caps on the left and right side and glueing a 2p coin to each side.  Essentially this is mass loading behind the drivers thus reducing some resonance from the slightly thin plastic.

Are there any pics on how to do this mod? Just wondering once I glue penny(right? I'm in the US) to do this mod do I put the cap back on?

Here is the article where I got it from: http://www.audiophileon.com/news/samson-sr850-superlux-hd681-review

Thanks in advance.

I have started a thread about my two day Superlux experience... Instead of admitting defeat and this was a project headphone anyways, I'm looking for a cable to re cable the headphone with as well as some plugs. I'm not quite sure I want to keep detachable wires or not... I may go that route but different. This would be the first time i've done something like this and I need to be pointed in the right direction. I know somewhat about what i'm dealing with and what to look for. Is there a tutorial anyone here lives by that I can look at for recable projects? I'm more in search of materials as i'd consider myself inclined in the world of building and destroying.

Here is my pathetic story: http://www.head-fi.org/t/813821/hd668b-new-and-broken-repair-and-recable

Keep in mind this was a livid seventeen year old in a testosterone induced rage with a dose of dyslexia so you may get lost halfway through.

This is my easy mod for remove heights and sibilances. It works and affects only heights. Photos for you:

Notes: Use quality soft tissue (it consist of 3 slices). Diameter of circle is 3 cm.
If you want even less heights, use coffee filter. But it removes middle a little.
