I have them plugged into my main rig listed below in my sig.

They are being amped by the PreSonus HP4. If you remind me towards the end of the week I can play around with the EQ in foobar and let you know the results.

.

how is the 5eb's bass/fun compared to the shure e5c/um2?

bass is what made me spent a few hundred bucks on the shures and if the eb's are even better (bass/fun-wise), i need to get them too ;(

well from all the review i read... e5 has a bit more then e4, UM2 being close the e5. The 5pro having much more then e4 or er6i. then i think a lot of reviews state 5pro being close the UM2, but a bit more (but UM2 having more highs people moved more toward UM2).

And since 5EB has more then 5pro i would say out of the bunch 5EB has the most bass

The Super.Fi 5 EB seems to be at a price-point that makes it attractive to me. My problems with choosing it are: they seem a bit big and maybe uncomfortable and I'm not sure if the bass will be too much for everyday use.

I think balanced armature drivers are more expensive to manufacture than dynamic drivers. The pro contains two of the armature type the EB one of each type.

Yeah, I've been trying to figure that out and that's the conclusion that I have come up with. Maybe the high/mids driver is the same as the Pro version but the dynamic bass driver in the EB's allow them to have bass that extends further than the Pro's and is balanced for louder bass than the Pro's. If this is the case then the mids and highs of the EB's could be the same as the Pros. Interesting.

AFTER BURN IN I have come to think that they indeed have the same highs and mids. There's a lot more bass though, so some of the detail gets covered over (masking frequencies).

There should be no question. The 5EB has a dramatic jump in bass quantity over all of the IEM's you've mentioned. From my memory of the DT770-80, the bass on the EB even surpasses that.

My old standby bass track, Nils Petter Molvaer - "On Stream" was pretty amazing with the EB's when I listened to them at the 'Head-Fi Meets UE Tour'. Earthshaking bass, although the higher registers (i.e. Nils' trumpet) did suffer. I wish I knew whether they were burned in or not.

I'll bring them with me on Saturday and you can take them for a while unless LFF has a problem with that...

Beware of the bass on the Eb's though - they are a lot of fun!
