I'm taking a big gamble buying these - if they are fakes I will not be buying outside coffees for two weeks to get the money back and as a general self punishment.

Way too good to be true makes them obvious fakes.  They're a definite no go.

Definitely fake. You can tell by the fact it's waaaaaay too cheap AND it's coming from Hong Kong (means its fake by default).

Look at the lettering of the carrying pouch, it looks very cheap.

Save the money for your coffee instead, these IE8 are pretty much confirmed fake.

I was considering buying those for replacing the housing of my RE252. If I remember well, the IE8 also have a 9 mm driver, right?
Anyone experienced those definitely fake IE8? I mean, how is the build quality and the cable?

I bought them, so I will let you know in a fortnight.I havent actually ever had IE8s in my hands, I do have a set of 7s and hope to compare the two. They are going to my brother if they are fake - it seems likely. I just come off earning a nice bit of $$ up north so it won't hurt too hard, and I'll go back to my 7s.

Well I hope it works out for you dave650 but if someone is selling what he knows are fakes I see no reason to trust his honesty in any other transaction.  At least it's only about $40!

A $50 saving on an IE8 probably fine.  A $200+ saving?  More than a little suspicious!

Whoah, whaoh. Not everything from Hong Kong is fake by default. I been there and I've bought many things from there that were legitimately genuine products. Be careful with what you say, you might offend someone.
