Summit-fi is code for very expensive, it's not about the sound quality. :)

Nonsense. He who spends the most always has the best sounding gear. Anyone who's spent that much should know.

TH-900 and K812 are the best to me in that regard. Ultimately I prefer the Fostex.

Better a used Denon D5000 with J$ pads if you're going unamped. That way you only pay 400-500$, there's NO need to pay 2000$ for the TH900.
Or a CD3000 - that's way better sounding - if you can find one that still works and doesn't sound like crap. I have to warn you, most of them are fizzy decaying husks by now, the CD3000's, but if you can find a (L)NIB one, jump on it.

Getting it for $1250.... Not saying where though

Says the man with the Liquid Glass.

Edit: ohhh... I see you're selling it.

Was selling it to get a sr009 but I'm not any more. Got to many planars and dynamics now to do that.

What's your take on all the things you've got there? Liquid Glass and HD800 / LCD-3 sounds like a killer combo. Why would you even consider moving to SR-009? Just curiosity?

IMO the hd-800 is the winner hands down. The lcd-3 is more natural but the detail and resolution of the hd800 eats up the lcd-3.

Wanted the sr009 just to try it with a liquid lightning.

Interesting, that's pretty much how I feel as well. I prefer my HD800 and a bit of EQ to make it more neutral/natural (take away peak at 6k Hz, add a touch of bass) but then it bests the LCD-3 for me personally.

The thing that really sealed the deal for me personally between those two is the soundstage. I love the HD800 soundstage and the LCD-3 feels too cramped for me. Others might feel differently.

Thanks for the feedback.
