Summit-Fi Random Thoughts

I have an Auteur Classic and like it a lot because after a hard day i can just fall into the music without worrying about technicalities. It pairs wonderfully with my Valhalla 2 and makes for a very nice and cheap combination (let's just ignore the Dave & MScaler + Serene in front of it).

This is a totally relevant post and not in any way related to the fact that i'm bumping the thread so @Ciggavelli can post in here.
Also: Yes, i absolutely hate that posts get deleted because of one single swear (that isn't even that harsh), i quoted something you said and posted "That's a nice point".

I am all for swearing, believe me, I do PLENTY (ask most people on the forums who have met me!), but I think there’s ways to communicate your point, even passionately, without being abrasive with cursing. It’s especially hard to balance things on a forum because written words often leave so much to self-interpretation, so I can understand why the limitation is necessary.

I hear what you are saying. I'm gonna be better with the swearing. When I write, I like to swear to make a point. I'll mask it better though. I think swearing can be helpful in written text. I even had a ton of swear words in my PhD dissertation. I just like to swear in written text, and I guess real life. I'll be better though. I don't want to be banned from threads again.

Still, somebody had to report me. I guess somebody isn't happy with some of the things that were said. But, I learned a lesson. I'll do better :)

lol, I can say for sure it wasn’t me. It doesn’t bother me and I agree there are times that I think it absolutely can be helpful in written text. It’s one of the quickest way to express raw emotions sometimes. I think possibly that’s the point of the rule (wild guess), to refrain from having so much charged emotion, responding reactively, and being able to take a moment.

We all can do better, my friend, not just you. We can all ALWAYS do better. 🍻

I’d far rather swear words than the epic bellendry that I see/hear written/said every single day.

I think swearing is a wonderful thing, and to be cherished. (Angry swearing is another thing entirely, and I think there are more productive ways to let out anger.)

Anyway, I’m off topic. But at least @Ciggavelli can post again now. That new forum rule is just bonkers. I don’t get it at all.

This is why I still haven’t gone above the HD600/650

I don’t want to put on a favourite but poorly mastered CD and think oh man this sounds really bad so I can’t listen to it, skip until I find something acceptable for the headphones and gear. That isn’t a good way to enjoy music imo.

Maybe one day I’ll find something that’s else that’s neutral, transparent and detailed whilst still being warm and smooth.

Or not and keep the thousands, sounds sensible to me

Maybe ZMF Atrium or Abyss JOAL?

Lately I started to try vinyl for headphone set up. Not as noisy as I expected actually. When there is no music, of course I can hear the static noise, but once the notes start playing, all good, no noise annoy me (unless the vinyl got really dirty). Vinyl sound much more fluid than digital, but at the same time, not as separated or as precise as digital as well. I only use cheap vinyl player though, ATH LP5x, all standard.

The main weakness (and obvious one) is I can't just sit, relax, and enjoy one bliss of album. It's definitely a hassle have to change the vinyl every 4-5 songs (sometimes even only 2-3 songs).

Summit-Fi equipment imported to Canada will probably be getting a 25% tax. Cross border shoppers here are already paying a 25% surcharge on US made items. This insanity has got to stop. EE, 64Audio please talk with your congress people. We love you American peoples but the government has lost touch with reality.

I believe the “surcharge” you are referring to is actually the exchange rate differential between the CAD and USD. That is a fact of life with international commerce and has been for centuries.

No, it’s the Canadian retaliation to the 25% tariffs on all Canadian goods applied by Trump. We really are sorry for imposing them but we had no choice as he is trying to take over our country by ruining our economy. Once again not the American people but…. Topical: no more iems for me from my favorite suppliers mentioned above.

It's madness, my planned Audeze purchase is on indefinite hold. Any hope of a return to sanity seems to be fading by the day. Prices will rise on both sides of the border.

This trade war made me look into Canadian audio products. Meitner Audio has recently updated the MA3 (MA3i is the new model) and I hadn't paid much attention to that brand but now, I'd consider it if I ever make the jump into high-end DACs. I haven't heard of any Canadian headphone companies though.

I can't comment on the trade war $&#% because I'll get banned from my thread again, but I'll just say I'm not happy. I can't comment any more than that because somebody is reporting all this $&%^. Some M@$! @$$&*^% is reporting all these posts. The trade war is affecting audio, but we can't talk about it. Crazy :deadhorse:

Back to audio, I get my new 1266 TC pads today. I look forward to trying them. I'm skeptical that I will like them, but I'll be open minded.
