Hi guys,
New to the forum and still a bit of a newby when it comes to do audio but I'm willing to learn.
I've got a set of DT990's running off a NuForce ICON HDP and I'm not completely sold on it's bass. I purchased them based on reviews as there's no places nearby that stock headphones like these. Some of the reviews said that they were a bit bass heavy (I know people have different opinions on what's bass heavy) but I don't feel like they provide enough bass, more like adequate bass.
Only thing I've got to compare them against are a set of RHA 750's, yes I know they're in ear monitors but that's all I have and the bass from those is what I'm after. I've had some recommendations on getting Hifiman's HE-400 and HE-500 or some other magnetic planar headphones like the Audeze LCD-2. I'm looking for something that can provide low and extended bass but not something that's muddy or overpowering. I listen to top 40 kind of music, dubstep, dance and some RNB. Nothing with ridiculously low bass or much acoustic music really.
As for a budget, I don't really want to spend more than $1000 (but if the LCD-2's are really that good the I'll consider them). I'm not sure how much I'm willing to spend yet as my dap/amp isn't really that high end.
Can you also suggest good places online to purchase headphones from in the US please as my family are over there on holidays at the moment.
