To my knowledge the ma900 drivers are slightly tilted towards the front?

  So far, options are:

Sennheiser HD-598
Used Soundmagic HP-200
Used AKG Q701
Used AKG K702

Haven`t done research about Beyerdynamic DT-770 vs. DT-880 vs. DT-990 with different impedances but which has most depth out of them? Can anyone tell? The good side is that there are many many used out there.

The two AKGs are considerably better for what you want than HD598; I haven't heard the Soundmagic yet.

Of the Beyers, DT770 is not so good at this as DT880/990, probably because it's closed. The AKGs are better than the three Beyers in this respect.

Akg K1000 and Stax Sigma is the only good choice

Thanks for your input! Seems that AKG K702 or Q701 is the way to go. Unfortunately just missed one good opportunity to get white Q701 ;( Will keep eye on selling thread.

You know that the general consensus is that angled drivers (like the ma900) makes for a deeper soundstage, right? It makes the sound more projected in front of you

Depends. I have not heard MA-900 but reading reviews and looking at its design, it doesn`t seem to have so good depth towards front. I might be wrong but I already decided to look other options.

Sure, can't say I have tried it, it just seemed to you dismissed it for the wrong reasons (ie. design with the angled drivers)

No, not that. I decided that based on reviews

The DT880's have a great sound stage and they're very neutral.  I would recommend the HD598s over the DT880s and they're much more forward than the DT880s.

Yeah, I considered DT-880 too but they are heavier and larger. But when I see one with good price, might grab it.

I'm actually getting ready to sell my DT880's (250 ohm) let me know what you're willing to pay.

I don't understand the whole thing about the ma900's angle. Theyre angled in a way so the drivers face your outer ear so it doesn't directly shove the sound into your ear canal. Just in case there's a misinterpretation, the picture has the guy facing away from the screen, implying that the sound is being projected from a point on front of your head, just like speakers.

I'd definitely recommend the ma900. All the good stuff you hear about the q/k70x's soundstage is because it has tons of width. Even my lcd2, a headphone that isn't really known for soundstage, beats my q701 in depth.

That said, the akg k70x definitely doesn't have much depth. It's very obvious when switching to something like the hd800, which has boatloads of depth, enough to make music sound out of head like speakers.

edit: grammer and speeling

Ok, thanks for input. Will try to get a listen on ma900 but atm still aiming for AKG.
