Has anyone bought IEM's for mobile music production/mixing? If so, what did you buy and how well did it work out for you? Any IEM's that would work well for this purpose connected straight to an iPad or laptop?

Any input on IEM's that would actually be good for music production/mixing?

Well, there are the two C/IEMs that are apparently made for mixing and mastering:

Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor: http://pro.ultimateears.com/products/custom-monitors/for-studio/ue-reference-monitors

JH Audio Layla: http://www.jhaudio.com/product/sirens-layla

(Layla also available as a IEM)

Those are pretty expensive. Any more affordable suggestions?

What's your price limit? That should help with viable suggestions :)

I would like to see price ranges that could suit a variety of budgets just for general knowledge on the subject.

Specifically for myself ATM though, I would use the IEM's primarily on the go with an iPad, and don't see the sense in paying more for IEM's than I did on the iPad itself. I'm thinking more along the sub $200 Canadian funds range. If I can find a suitable IEM around the $100 CAN range or even cheaper, that would be perfect! I'm looking for the best bang for the buck in this situation.

I will most likely be checking mixes later on nearfield monitors and studio cans after I transfer files to the computer, but I'd like something very portable that could get me in the right ball park for mixing when I'm on the go away from home. Also if I do decide to upload a mix right from the iPad onto the internet I would like that mix to translate fairly well. For the price range I'm looking at, I'm not expecting perfection, but for the best alternatives for the money.
