My ears are stretched to 7/8", so wearing some OE headphones can be pretty uncomfortable. I just got my Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro's in the mail yesterday and even those were uncomfortable!! So....
There is still very good isolation, it hasnt changed at all from what I can tell. My plug (ear ring) fits right into the hole I cut out. I would suggest keeping the piece that you cut out just in case you dont like it or end up wanting to put it back in later for some reason. This was a great comfort mod for me and I would recommend doing this to anyone with stretched ears or even people that have regular stud ear rings that are stabbing them behind their ears.
