TLDR: I'm looking for an affordable (i.e. 100-200 bucks or less, ideally, used is fine) solution to stream music from Tidal (on phone) to my stereo system in the living room, ideally via Wifi (Tidal connect), I guess.

Stereo Setup:
an old-ass Pioneer AVR (Pioneer SC-LX57, 10 years old) without any Bluetooth integration
connected to a pair of Bowers & Wilkins dm 685 shelf speakers

So, nothing too fancy, no summit-fi, no money pit

What do I want to do?
Use my phone with Tidal Hifi (regular) to stream music from the kitchen/couch via either Bluetooth (LDAC) or Tidal Connect (Wifi) to that stereo system.

Is LDAC Bluetooth enough if the phone might be 25ft away from the receiver at times? (with line of sight)

Because I've gotten the impression that DACs capable of straming Tidal Connect are generally crazy expensive (often much more so than my entire AV-Receiver was at the time)

The Topping DX3 Pro+ looks nice for a bluetooth streamer with great specs and all. But I don't really need a headphone amp and DAC and all that in that package. I'm happy if I can just feed my AVR a COAX signal and be done with it. (I don't really care much about the DAC wars)

Any recommendations?

In your price range it seems like a Wiim Mini or Wiim Pro might work out well for you, check out that thread here on Head-Fi for any questions!

Cheers!!

Hey

I was just looking at the ifi Zen Stream and was shocked by the price (I mean, compared to the DX3 Pro+ :D ). But the Wiim Pro looks perfect!
Coax Out, Tidal Connect, Ethernet.. awesome!

Thanks for the tip!

(Just need to find a supplier in Switzerland)

Got my Amazon account working again and ordered the Wiim Pro.
Should be here in a week. (ordered a coax cable too. curious to see how this thing holds up. )
Glad to hear that! I hope it works out well for you!

Wimm makes a good product and support seems to be very good so far! While your waiting catch up in the Wiim thread here!

Cheers!!
