Uh-oh. I think we have the next fad-in-the-making here on Head-Fi.

Hope the packaging is intact and no mold on these cables!

Yeah bcwang, but this thread is about a $20 IC...

There are plenty of mid to out of the world priced cables. The purpose of this thread is to determine if the little guy can stand even close to the big guy!

OTOH, if they do turn out to be a disappointment, I hope it doesn't deter people from checking out other "hi-end" cables. I suspect a lot of people who have never cable-rolled might bite at $20 for these. It would be a mistake to conclude that "fancy cables don't make a difference" after trying a $20 Monster cable for example.

Yet I get the not so strange feeling that this WILL in fact happen.

Yes, but the pro II is only a $24 IC. Unless I looked at the wrong price.

Edit: Oops, $24.85, guess I was wrong.

OK...we can talk about both of these cables, if you desire. I was only referring to an article in the current Stereophile. The Pro IIs have absolutely nothing to do with the theme of this thread.

I thought it would be relevant to this thread since it is kind of the same class or better of cables at almost the same price. I almost thought AR found ways to improve the PRO, but wanted it to be known so they released the PRO II, and will discontinue the PRO sometime afterwards. Of course this is just speculation and maybe they are completely different cable designs with completely different sound characteristics.

Well, once anyone gets either of these AR cables, please post a review. I'd like to see how they compare to other affordable cables like outlaw pca's and others.

I've owned the AR Pro series cables for about two years now. Think of them as the Sennheiser of cables. Great detail, but rolled off highs. I like them a lot, and think that they're pretty much the best available at the price point, but the Outlaw PCA's are a better all purpose cable IMO. However, in the right system, particularly if it tends to brightness, they could be the answer.
