The 0404 usb should drive 580/600/650's ok - it drives my 650's acceptably. I usually listen out of a Gilmore Lite, and imho the differences are slight.

Are you unable to pick up a DT770 and use them alongside your 580's?

haha u guys are funny. getting more than one pair of headphones to suit my moods had crossed my mind, but i'd rather just have one pair for everything. i think i'm just going to sell my e-mu 0404 and get an iBasso D1. that thing has it all and in such a small package.
