What is current your amp/source? You know you can't plug SR404 to a dynamic headphone amp? What kind of music do you listen mostly? What's your actual budget?

Without knowing these answers, we can't give you some useful suggestions.

After some more research, the Stax cans are out of the question unless I find a great deal for an amp. Atm I have no amp

but will be getting an amp and new cans shortly. The phones I have now are shure se-210s but I'm looking for some higher end ones. Pretty much I'm down to the senns, grados (rs1 and 2) ,and possibly a few others. Budgets around 700, so I'm not 100% sure what I'd be able to get.

Oh and I listen to all types of music, but mostly rock, blues, jazz, and a little classical, techno, and hip-hop. Thanks

Any suggestions for a good amp for either the 650s or the RS1s? It must be able to connect to a computer.

RS-1s and HD600s used.

RS-1s will take care of rock, blues and jazz. Draws you on stage.
HD 600 will do the rest. I like the bass balance better than the 650s.

Sadly it does

It's somewhat flexible though, but not much more than 700

You can get a used Stax setup for 700.00 or 800.00.
Once I went Stax, I never looked back

Which setup is it, do you have any links? And also, if I were to buy a Dac in addition to the Stax setup would I be set to use it?

Sorry for sooo many questions, you just got me excited!

Thanks

I have no experience with the RS-2. That being said, I would go for the RS-1 or a STAX rig if you can scrape the funds together.

To me, it would be impossible to wrong with either of those two!

Look for a used Stax rig, your ears will thank you, you simply cannot go wrong with it, check out the stax threads, you can learn a lot about vintage and in-production models,
