Stax SR-X9000

The T8000 is not as good as everyone might expected.
Although not sounding bad, for me the T8000 lack control of the X9000 for example the uncontrol over warming mid bass, the lack of sub bass and modirated treble extension is not much different compare to a 727. At the end of the day the T8000 is a 727 with redesign electroharmonic tube output stage, for that i wont go into much detail but is a big thread on headcase to look up. For the price they are asking I might as well go get a KGST which i am sure it will do a better job.

Not much knowledge for all in one of my friend say the Pro iESL is decent if you dont want to spend alot.

The Carbon surely open up my X9000 and is a day and night differecnces for amp compare to the T8000. I am sure it does well in the BHSE as well, now just waiting for some volks who have a T2s to share us some review
Yeah I am planning on a Carbon. Saw some import models (JR Audio) for around $2.5k. Not sure if Mjolnir's build is another $3-4k better and Mjolnir's Carbon is all out of stock.

Edit: Well I went through some more reviews of JR Audio's products and they seem to be poorly built and has zero actual warranty if it fails or burn out the headphones. :triportsad:

Try FELITSA AUDIO from Vietnam; much better built, a friend bought one,was excellent and had great components inside. Thu An is the owner, here about him and a few samples of his amps: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3738790392862669/user/1500409332 [I have no relationship whatsoever with him...]

I strong advise against anything JR or Felitsa Audio. Serious concerns have been expressed about their quality by, among others, the designer of the boards. The 'much better built' and 'great components inside' does not hold for the amps that I have seen.

OK; good to know then!! Was that from the designer Kevin Gilmore himself or "Spritzer" aka Birgir from Mjolnir Audio - who of course cannot really be "neutral" as part of the "Stax Mafia"

I was talking about Kevin Gilmore. He extensively documented his findings on an Megatron from Felitsa (or one of his many pseudonyms). So not a carbon, but a cautionary tale nonetheless.

I have a Felitsa Carbon i got used here i Denmark. I bought it cheap well knowing the former user had problems with it (i am managing a electronics team that can fix most issues 😉) and had to have the pot changed to a TKD pot as the one from Felitsa was a cheap one causing noice and unbalance. It works fine now (i have not compared it to another Carbon but it is much better than my Stax SRM-007tII) but I would not recommend going down that route to anyone who cant fix any potential component issues.

Mjolnir Carbon does not seem to be out of stock, at least according to their website....

Anyone been in contact with headamp lately

Like actually talk to Justin?
I sent multiple emails over the months to Headamp asking about the shipping time and after some customer service responds, Justin (or at least someone using his re:amaze account) replied with my position in the queue and he later gave me an update when my batch was shipped from Japan.

I am waiting for mine too. Reading about the amps I surly hope my RSA A-10 Thunderbolt can power the X9000 to its potential as it does with my 009 specially after the latest upgrade.

I placed my order late November for the X9000 along with a BHSE, I'm prepared to wait. I have the RAAl SR1a to keep me company.
What color bhse?

Depending on color you may be in for a looooooong wait.

This ^.
Estat amps at this caliber are incredibly difficult to make. MA and Kevin Gilmore together created the Carbon. Any of these other brands are non-licensed knockoffs and I would be weary of their performance/reliability.
