Thanks for the very helpful post.
Find a way to get them on your head. At this point it just feels like you’re goin in circles asking the same question over and over

I’ve listened to metal on them but I don’t think I’m gonna give you the answer you want.

Converge to bear vs shark to early Metallica it’s 👍

Habe you hear the CRBN in comparison?
I recently got to listen to crbn and lcd5

I didn’t get to hear them on my setup. I also didn’t get to EQ the lcd5 but that aside I wasn’t wowed and wouldn’t buy either. I think the crbn is a pretty good overall. But the fears over quality control are real. I left way more impressed by the crbn than lcd5. The lcd 5 blew my mind in bad ways lol. I can’t understand what happened and how that headphone became the audeze flagship.

But back to the crbn…..they’re good and I’d need way more time to give a real review of the sound. I don’t think that’s gonna happen.

What were you powering the CRBN with?

Crbn has fuller bodied bass while x9000 has faster and cleaner bass. For symphonic metal I'd take x9000 for the more grad presentation but not sure I would take it for any other sub-grenre I personaly listen to. This held up on bhse, Wes, 007tii, and aic10-> srd7

I have read that the CRBN are harder to drive. I guess this would also effect how they sound, depending upon what is driving them.

Honestly, I've had the other experience. The crbn sound much fuller with more impact on the 007tii than the x9000. That said, the aic->srd7 and bhse drive both exceptionaly well. Maybe something like a 3es, t2, or viva stx would show additional power differences but I don't have experience with any of those so I can't realy comment unfortunately

Hi dude, I just found the frequency response of the X9000 on a chinese website, also the frequency response graphs of SR-Omega and Orpheus!

Bass is the problem of the X9000. Thanks
@Nomax for the tip to pass the X9000!
For EDM, Metal, Pop CRBN is without a question the way to go! Even classical I don't want to hear without punch.
This is my last post here in the thread the chapter X9000 is closed for me. Hope Stax develop something that can compete in all disciplines with CRBN, Stealth, Susvara and the HE1.

And what does this say to you?
To me it says: X9000 sounds more neutral than its predecessor, the SR-009S. X9000 has a more balanced treble response, but not more bass (maybe even a bit less). The HE90 sound was already slightly more neutral 20 years ago than the X9000 is today.
