although the ray samuels emmeline "blackbird" sr-71 dual mono headphone amplifier (whew!) works best with my ety er4s, my grado sr125 also sound very good with it: the amp does nice things with the grado treble (no more grate-o).

no doublt that it matches well with the Grado and others. It still consider a reference amp when it comes to compare portable or semi portable amps. And it fairs well even in a home setup

You should get a grado called a sennheiser HD600.
All kidding aside, I would consider either an SR225 or RS2 depending on your budget. There are also the alessandros, which I have little experience with.

Start out with the SR225s, and get flat pads for them, then you can switch around between the flats and bowls and see what you like. The 225 is most probably the highest grado one should get in my opinion, unless one is very sure grado is their love, and then move on to rs2/1

OK, I'll bite: is this the same SR-71 on Ray's site, or is the Blackbird a different variety of SR-71?
